Alexa is a company that was acquired by Amazon in 1999 and provides commercial web traffic data. It is the leading provider for free global web metrics. It has a toolbar which collects data on browsing behavior which is then transmitted to the Alexa website. The data is then stores and analyzes which then forms the company’s web traffic report. By keyword, category, or country you can search Alexa for the most successful sites. It is very well known for AlexaRank, which is a raking system that tracks over 30 million websites. Alexa uses many types of toolbars and add-ons for Firefox, Google Chrome, and Internet Explorer.  Alexa is good for small to medium businesses to help them succeed on the web. It allows businesses to benchmark their sites performance, generate traffic, and optimize their websites.
