Google Webmaster Tools

Webmaster Tools is a free web service that allows users to check indexing status and optimize visibility of their websites. Webmasters is part of a marketing effort to promote Google Services. This tool does not cover search results from any other search engines, which is sometimes not clearly understood by users. The webmasters then have tool to:

– Submit/check a sitemap
– Check/set the crawl rate and then be able to view how Googlebot accesses a particular site
– Generate/check robots.txt file
– List external and internal pages that are linked to the site
– View a list of broken links for that site
– View statistics about errors while Google indexes the site
– View statistics that show how Google indexes sites.
– being able to click through rates of what keyword searches on Google will lead to that site being listed in the SERP’s.
– Set a domain which determines how the site URL will be displayed in SERP’s.
